SabreCast #40 – New Faces

In this week’s episode of SabreCast, we discuss the past week’s games, the Sabres’ Trade Deadline transactions, the current injuries, and the playoff picture.

In the last week, the Sabres have gone 2-1, beating the Montreal Canadiens and the Phoenix Coyotes 5-1, but falling to the Ottawa Senators 6-3.

Wednesday marked the NHL Trade Deadline and saw the Sabres make a small splash. They resigned Tim Connolly to a 2 year contract worth $4.5 million per season. They also acquired center Dominic Moore from the Toronto Maple Leafs and backup goalie Mikael Tellqvist from the Phoenix Coyotes. The Moore deal also saw Ales Kotalik traded to the Edmonton Oilers.

The Sabres Power Play has been fantastic in the last week, scoring 7 goals in their three games. Despite earning 4 points, the Sabres remain in 10th place in the standings with 73 points, but just 2 points out of the playoffs.
