In SabreCast #20, we cover Friday’s game versus the Atlanta Thrashers and Saturday’s game at Boston. Matt and I had a really busy weekend, so we had to combine both games into one episode and release the podcast a bit late too.

Sabres vs Thrashers

  • The Sabres played an offensive style game with the defensemen joining the rush frequently and scored four goals.
  • The goals came from MacArthur (6), Kotalik (5), Afinogenov (1), and Vanek (12).
  • Despite offensive success, the Sabres had a couple defensive breakdowns and Miller struggled throughout the game. The Sabres gave up four goals in regulation and one in overtime.
  • The game also saw a lot of Power Play goals as each team had two.

Sabres @ Bruins

  • The Sabres started off the game with a head of steam and saw Connolly score his first goal of the season in the first period.
  • However, the Sabres missed on a number of good chances and allowed Boston to get back in the game. Boston tied up the game in the first and scored two more in the second.
  • The Sabres put forth a pretty good effort, but it wasn’t enough. Boston passed the Sabres for the division lead with the win.
