SabreCast #16: Sabres @ Avalanche

The Buffalo Sabres continue their point streak to eight games by earning a point in a 2-1 shoot out loss to the Colorado Avalance. The Sabres took the 1-0 lead in the second period on Paille’s first goal of the season. The game ended up in the shoot out, but the Sabres couldn’t match Colorado’s prowess and earned their second shoot out loss of the season.

Game Synopsis
- What was expected to be a high scoring affair, was just the opposite. Great goaltending prevailed despite a flurry of shots from both teams.
- Paille finally scored his first goal of the season a deflection off Lydman’s shot pass.
- The Sabres injury troubles continue, losing Tallinder early in the second period with a deep laceration above his ankle. No word yet whether he will miss any more time.
- The Sabres went to overtime for the fifth time in eight games.
- Drew Stafford’s shoot out streak came to an end, but Kotalik and Roy both scored.
- The Avalanche beat Miller three times in five attempts to steal the win.
