SabreCast #39 – No Luck For Lalime

In this week’s episode of SabreCast, we discuss the past week’s disastrous games, Vanek’s upcoming return to the lineup, Lalime’s play, the playoff picture, and the Trade Deadline.

In the last week, the Sabres have gone 0-2-1, losing to the Anaheim Ducks 3-2, the Carolina Hurricanes 2-1 in the shootout, and the league worst New York Islanders 2-0. Miller’s absence was definitely felt, but not nearly so much as Thomas Vanek’s.
Patrick Lalime really did a great job in net all week, on allowing 6 goals in 3 games, but the Sabres struggled to score. In their three losses, the Sabres only accumulated 3 goals and failed to convert on a number of quality chances.
With the Trade Deadline coming up on Wednesday and the Sabres sitting precariously in 8th place, rumors are abound concerning the Sabres bringing in a big name forward like Olli Jokinen. I just hope they are true.
