Connolly’s Injury Now Week-to-Week

Tim Connolly sustained, what was referred to as, an “upper body bruise” after being body checked by Keith Tkachuk during the Sabres win over St. Louis on November 12, 2008. Connolly only played one shift after the hit. However, despite soreness, Connolly participated in the 6-1 loss to Columbus on November 14, but did not against Pittsburgh the following night.
After Saturday’s game, I had heard rumors that Connolly’s injury was considered day-to-day and that he was expected to start in the November 19 game in Boston. Now Sabres.com is reporting that Tim Connolly’s injury will now be evaluated on a week-to-week basis.
Connolly started off the season with an injured vertebra and has only played in six games, during which he has amassed seven points. It’s such a shame that he is injured so often, because, when he is in the lineup, he makes a big impact.
Unfortunately, I doubt this news comes as a surprise to many fans, as Connolly has had a problem staying healthy since before the Lock Out. This just seems to be further reason for the Sabres to let go of Connolly at the end of the season. They need to focus on bringing in or calling up new talent to replace his mostly vacant, but important spot on the roster.
