Sabres Preseason Report #2
Tuesday, September 30th, 2008 8:39 pm by Mike
The Buffalo Sabres have now played four out of seven total preseason games. Our last report focused on the first two games, so this will pick up on the last two versus the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Minnesota Wild.
Gaustad to Miss Beginning of Regular Season
This biggest news that has come out since our last report is that Sabres Center Paul Gaustad will be out three to four weeks after under going thumb surgery. It also looks like Mair may miss the beginning of the regular season because of injury.
Buffalo Sabres vs Toronto Maple Leafs
The Sabres preseason home opener was played against the Toronto Maple Leafs on Saturday. The Sabres dressed a roster that consisted of a mix of veterans and prospects. Matt and I attended the game and have posted a SabreCast #7 with our full reactions.
Game Result: 3-2 W (OT)
The players that contributed to the score include:
- Derek Roy – 1G, 1A
- Ales Kotalik – 1G, 1A
- Paul Gaustad – 1G
- Craig Rivet – 1A
- Maxim Afinogenov – 3A
The game came to a furious finish with both Sabres’ regulation goals being scored with Miller pulled and Kotalik’s game winner scored shortly into overtime.
Buffalo Sabres vs Minnesota Wild
The Sabres’ fourth preseason game was against the Wild at home on Sunday. Lalime played the whole game in net and had 18 saves on 19 shots.
